About Edwina
Early Childhood educator. Founder of Blooming Curious.
Having taught on 3 different continents, I've seen what really works when it comes to keeping children interested in learning. So it's no surprise that I have strong convictions about what's best for young learners.
I discovered that getting children genuinely curious at the start of a lesson, and giving them something real to wonder about, makes all the difference. When you do that well, engagement follows. Not every child, every second, every lesson — that's not realistic, and anyone who tells you otherwise isn't being straight with you.
But when the work is worth doing, children are engaged.
And sitting in silence for long periods, filling out worksheets... that isn't thinking — it's curiosity quietly trained out of children.
Those children aren't incapable. They just haven't been given a reason to get excited about learning.
